BOSOM PALS
Southend Breast Cancer Support
The charity funds raised by the club principally through the fund raising efforts of the Benfleet marathon runners will be presented by cheque to Bosom Pals at the club house at 7pm on 1st August 2006 just before our club training run. We would especially like all those who raised over £ 1,000 pounds to be there as well as all other fund raisers in Benfleet vests please. We hope to have an official photographer from the Echo to photograph the event. The final sum raised was a staggering £ 11,500 pounds !!
Bosom Pals was formed in 1990 as a support group for patients who were diagnosed with breast cancer. In 1995 it became a registered charity with the objective of raising money for the Southend Hospital Breast Unit. This funding goes to improve facilities in the unit and to help purchase new equipment so that patients have the benefit of the latest technology. The unit is currently saving towards a new Ultrasound scanning machine which costs in excess of £ 70,000.

our club runners running in the London Marathon.
A self-help group for women who have or have had breast cancer, their families and friends.
Offer advice, support, practical help and an ongoing
programme of interest.
